Mr. Petros Kattou speaks on chronic pain & neuromodulation on Sigma TV

Mr. Petros Kattou, Chief Neuromodulation Officer at SOZO Brain Center, appeared on Sigma TV on the 25th of June 2026 to discuss one of medicine’s most underestimated challenges: chronic pain.

In a detailed, evidence-based conversation, Mr. Kattou explained what chronic pain actually is — defined as pain, sensory or emotional, lasting more than three months, with or without tissue damage — and shed light on just how widespread it has become. Today, more than one in three people in both the EU and the US live with chronic pain. In the European Union alone, that means approximately 150 million people.

The interview explored the neuroscience behind pain perception, the role of the brain in amplifying or sustaining pain signals, and why so many conventional treatments — from medications to surgery — fall short for a significant number of patients. Mr. Kattou also shared his own personal journey with chronic lower back pain, which ultimately led him into the field of neuromodulation.

The discussion covered a range of neuromodulation approaches, including non-invasive transcranial stimulation and wearable vagus nerve stimulators, which have shown results that surpass opioid medications in comparative studies — without the dependency risks. Real patient cases were presented, including individuals who had exhausted every available treatment option before achieving full symptom relief through neuromodulation.
